When a CV accomplishes its first goal, it secures an interview that typically lasts 30 to 45 minutes. The CV must then achieve a second goal, constructively steering an interview in its candidates favour. The CV becomes a vital weapon and key to success, allowing questions that let the interviewee shine. Interviews help assess a candidate's personality and outlook. Interviewers trust their gut feeling and the rapport established with interviewees. Of six original interviewees, normally only two, achieve selection for a final interview. A CV helps make this decision when it is read again, once the candidate has left. A final interview will examine experience, qualification and ability to cope in different situations. The interviewer will dig deep, before the decision, of who to finally employ. Candidates must offer something "extra special" to win their new position. |
